James Kuo, M.A. Clinical Mental Health Professional Teens/Adults/Couples/Family/Group
James' counseling philosophy is captured by ancient wisdom from Liji, "Cultivate the self; put your house in order; maintain the state; and bring peace under heaven." He believes that personal transformation is the key to creating meaningful change within families, which then ripples out to communities and society as a whole. As a mental health clinician with an MA in Clinical Counseling from Alliant International University, James is dedicated to guiding individuals in cultivating their inner strengths and empowering them to become agents of change, both in their own lives and in the world around them.
James brings experience in school-based counseling, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention call counseling. As a second generation American-born Chinese, he is committed to cultural humility and helping clients navigate the complexity of a bicultural identity, understanding the challenges that may come with seeking therapy. His clinical approach is further enriched by unique experiences, such as surf therapy interventions and clinical observations of firefighters.
Having studied trauma, relationships, and depth-oriented approaches like Jungian and existential therapy, James has developed a strong interest in applying these concepts to help clients heal. He strives to support you in using these insights to uncover your potential, foster meaningful change, and embark on a transformative journey together.
