Dr. Anna Selena Cho, founder and Clinical Director of HEART THEORY, offers an integrative lens to her work in the field of psychology. Utilizing the resources of the Mind, the Body, the Creative Process, and archetypes, her methods reach into the abstract concepts of what we yearn and strive for, while guiding through the resistance of the emotional process. She is a student of the ocean & earth, creative arts, martial arts, and the community; looking within and beyond to continue challenging and expanding the individual and team potential. She has developed Hydro Theory, an OCEAN+SURF therapy program to the community, intersecting recreation and mental health to create sustainable change, healing, and connection.

Anna was traditionally trained in visual arts in her early developmental years and eventually obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Roski School of Fine Arts at the University of Southern California. Upon her personal exploration into the effects of creativity and the mind, she obtained her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy at Phillips Graduate University; thereafter completing her Doctoral degree at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Applied Clinical Psychology. Dr. Cho completed her post-doctoral fellowship training at the Reiss Davis Child Study Center specializing in pediatric neuro-diagnostic testing, wherein she continued working with young adults in treatment and addiction programs. Currently Dr. Cho is an Adjunct Faculty Professor at Cal Lutheran University teaching Cultural Diversity, Group Dynamics, and Counseling Theories to Graduate Psychology students. Anna has been trained in trauma-informed ocean therapy practices and eco-based expressive-arts modalities and continues to build upon her scope of practice in integrated methods. She has trained with International Surf Organization (ISO) in surf coaching to continue holding a safe space for clients and trainees in and out of the Ocean Space.

Dr. Cho focuses on emotion-focused therapy as an overarching gateway into and through the work. She works with individuals, couples and families helping them navigate through past traumas, symptoms of need, and developing a meaningful process through conceptualizing the problem story.
